Allie D'Avanzo, MS, RD, LDN
Associate Registered Dietitian
Allie graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and a minor in the psychology of Eating Disorders from West Chester University and subsequently went on to complete both her dietetic internship and Master’s Degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers). Upon graduation from UMDNJ, she began working at Princeton House Behavioral Health in the Emotional Eating program. She also worked at the outpatient level with Sister to Sister, a program that supports college aged women with body image and eating concerns. After a move from New Jersey to Philadelphia she started working at The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorder Treatment in the residential and outpatient levels of care. Her work at Princeton and Renfrew fueled a passion for working in the specialty of eating disorder treatment, disorder eating, and overall wellness/disease prevention.
As a Registered Dietitian, Allie has developed her personal approach to nutritional counseling and therapy encompassing evidenced-based nutrition science, exploration of food and emotions, food exposure therapy, and traditional medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to support her clients with healing their relationship with food, body, and mind. Her goal is to help clients break free from diet culture and weight stigma by identifying realistic steps toward positive and sustainable change.
Allie’s philosophy is that “good” and “bad” are not words to describe food, the relationship with food or oneself. She rejects our culture’s current diet mentality and promotion of restrictive eating.
When not working, Allie enjoys visiting family at the NJ beach and spending time with her Pug, Jagger.
Allie is currently accepting new clients for individualized nutrition counseling in our Center City Office.
